Diesel Guns is an old-school multiplayer arcade car combat game inspired by Twisted Metal, Interstate ’76, and Vigilante 8. Its gameplay combines the energy and fun of combat racing with the depth of a classic online shooter.

  • Blueprints
    Weapon system: 11 types, slots, primary and alternate fire, vehicle-class superweapons, and combinations with barrels and mines.
    Vehicles and mechanics: classes and skins, nitro, jumps, the hammer, shield, and berserk mode.
    Level gameplay objects: traps, bosses, pickups, barrels, and more.
    Initialization and balancing through Data Tables.
  • Multiplayer
    Integration of the third-party Steam Party plugin.
    Steam Game Servers and Server Browser integration through UE Online Subsystem Steam.
    Game modes and match logic; progression and metagame systems (points and levels).
    Networked gameplay classes: PlayerState, GameMode, and GameState; server and match discovery, joining game modes, and replication setup.
  • C++
    Engine modifications for Steam Dedicated Server support.
    Exposing C++ functions to Blueprints.
    Moving performance-critical logic from Blueprints to C++.
  • AI
    Bots using Behavior Trees and EQS.
  • Level Design
    Level creation, navigation, lighting and weather effects, and placement of gameplay objects.
    Adapting assets from Unreal Engine Marketplace.
  • UI
    HUD, main menu, settings and key bindings, results and voting screens, in-game menu, and world-space widgets.
  • FX
    Cascade particles, integration of effects from the Paragon library, and adaptation of third-party particle systems.
  • Build and Deployment
    Client and dedicated server builds; publishing on Steam.
    Deploying and running dedicated servers on Linux virtual machines.
