An interactive guide built in Unreal Engine 5. Exploration begins on an overview map of mountainous Ingushetia, with towns and settlements marked for the user to choose from. Within each settlement, visitors can roam freely, change the time of day and season, experience weather and ambient sound, explore points of interest with historical notes, and interact with lamps, doors, and household objects. Each settlement includes two towers with detailed interiors and traditional furnishings. Domestic animals bring additional life to the scenes.
Authenticity is grounded in accurate terrain and layouts: landscapes and settlements are reconstructed using 3D photogrammetry, while architectural forms draw on archival material and field research. Each location offers an explorable area of approximately one square kilometer, with rivers, dense forests, and distinctive paths. The visuals use UE5’s modern capabilities: Nanite for high-polygon models, Lumen for global illumination, and Nanite-optimized vegetation placed using PCG systems for a natural distribution of species, rocky areas, and undergrowth.
